Dolores Antonsen

Dolores has been teaching piano and theory for more than 30 years. She values quality music education for all students. She sees teaching as a wonderful gift. She served a term with the South Fraser Branch as the Advertising/Promotions Coordinator, Rep for the Surrey Arts Council and a committee member for the South Fraser Primary Piano Festival 2011. Currently, Dolores is the treasurer for the Sound Vision 2020 Conference. As President, Dolores strives to bring the BCRMTA to the forefront of the Mid-Island Branch.

Miriam Duckworth

Miriam has over 40 years experience teaching piano with both the Suzuki method to children from age 3 and traditional approaches to all ages. Her training includes the Victoria Conservatory of Music teacher training course (AVCM), Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT Teacher’s Diploma) and Suzuki Method Levels 1-4. She moved to Nanaimo in 2016 and joined the Mid-Island branch of the BCRMTA. She enjoys being a team member working to provide programs and events to stimulate and encourage students in their musical pursuits.

Sue Wood

Sue has been active in music for over 35 years as both a piano and music theory teacher, as well as an accompanist. She enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities. She studied both at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, attaining an Associateship in Piano Pedagogy in 1988, and at the Vancouver Community College, attaining her Music Diploma in 2003. Her in-home music business, Dreamtree Studios Nanaimo, is centrally located in the Brechin Hill neighbourhood. She joined the Mid-Island Chapter of the BCRMTA in 2013, and the branch executive in 2016 as an active community supporter.

Erika Wilson

Erika teaches piano, voice, theory and composition to students of all ages in the Nanaimo area. She holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree in Jazz Voice Performance, an ARCT Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and recently completed Level 1 training in Somatic Voicework: The Lovetri Method, a vocal pedagogy method aimed at contemporary music styles. Erika loves helping people express themselves through music and is really enjoying being a part of the vibrant local branch of the BCRMTA.


Susan Schleppe

Susan has over 30 years of teaching experience and offers lessons in Classical and Contemporary Idioms and Theoretical Studies. Provincial delegate for a past decade, Susan coordinated the bi-annual B.C. Piano Competition and the Young Artist Tour. Being a part of the executive of the Mid-Island Branch provides a great opportunity to serve the members and students within the branch. Music continues to inspire and open up new and exciting avenues for development.

Dianne Bohn

Dianne has been a member of the Mid-Island branch since 1980. She has an ARCT Diploma in Performance and Pedagogy (Teacher’s), as well as the ALCM Performance Diploma from the London, England College of Music. Dianne is an experienced independent piano / theory teacher of all levels and ages of students, as well as piano pedagogy for those seeking their Teacher’s Diploma. Her aim when President was to support and enhance the local BCRMTA Mid-Island Branch teachers in the development of young musicians in our community through programs, activities, and exciting and meaningful performance opportunities.
