Sue Wood has been active in music for over 30 years as both a piano and music theory teacher, as well as an accompanist. She studied at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, where she attained her Associateship in Piano Pedagogy in 1988. She revisited her music studies in 2001 at the Vancouver Community College, where she attained her Music Diploma. By invitation, she completed an additional year at VCC in classical piano performance with a focus on chamber music.
Sue has built her home-based music studio in the Brechin Hill neighbourhood of Central Nanaimo. Maintaining ties to the lower mainland, she joined the piano faculty at the Richmond Arts Centre in 2016. She enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities.
Sue became a member of the Mid-Island Chapter of the BCRMTA in 2013, and an executive member in 2016. Currently, she fulfills the role of branch treasurer. Recently, she served the local music community for one year as the interim Piano Chair for the 2017 Upper Island Music Festival.
